Locum Anaesthetist required, St Helena

IMS Recruitment is a leading recruiter of medical staff for hospitals worldwide.

Our client is a 28 bedded well resourced public hospital on the remote, beautiful island of St Helena (population 4,500).

St Helena is An Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom located in the South Atlantic (circa 4,000 miles from the UK and 1,200 miles from South Africa).

Our client is looking for AN ANAESTHETIST for three-month holiday cover starting asap.

The candidate will:

  • Provide anaesthetics to adult and paediatric patients including general anaesthesia (LMA or intubation), neuraxial blocks and axillary plexus blocks
  • Resuscitation and stabilisation of patients in the Emergency Department
  • Intensive care medicine
  • Provide sedation and anaesthesia for patients undergoing various procedures: including endoscopic procedures, interventional radiology and dental surgery
  • Transport of acutely ill and injured patients
  • Pain medicine including:
  • Pain relief in labour and obstetric anaesthesia
  • The relief of post-operative pain
  • Acute pain medicine and the management of acute teams
  • Chronic and cancer pain management

Requirements:

  • GMC Specialist Registration / Board in Anaesthetics (or international equivalent)
  • At least 5 years’ post graduate experience
