IMS has many jobs as RMOs (Resident Medical Officers) in the UK. We are permanently recruiting for these RMO positions. We always need surgeons, anesthetists, ICU and emergency doctors to work in private surgical hospitals.
We recommend overseas doctors taking these RMO jobs as they are an “easy” introduction to the UK and the fastest way of getting a job in the UK. You work week 1 or 2 weeks on and 1 week off, the contract is for 6 months, is well paid and accommodation is provided.
In the weeks you are not working, you can return to your home country or find locum work.
Please also note that generally it is far easier and quicker for a doctor to get a work permit to work as an RMO as the RMO companies are willing to do the work permits that you need to work in the UK. Many NHS hospitals will not do this for overseas doctors coming to the UK for the first time due to the time and cost involved.
Another issue to consider is that you can get interviewed far faster as this will be before obtaining GMC registration. Only RMO companies will interview you prior to obtaining GMC; none of our hospital clients will interview you without GMC. In the six months you are here in the UK on an RMO contract, we then help doctors get the job that they are really looking for in their specialism.
We bring over many doctors in this way who use RMO work as a means of starting in UK and then we get them NHS hospital jobs. Please note that is far easier to get a job in the UK if you are here already and if you can provide UK references and have experience of working in the UK.
The main requirements we are looking for are from an RMO doctor are:
- Excellent English
- A minimum of 2 year’s experience since qualification.
- Eligible for full GMC registration
- Demonstrable Skills in resuscitation, taking of blood, i/v drips, catheterisation, ECG |
